Laura Newman is an award winning filmmaker, singer and composer who has directed hundreds of films including the feature film comedy WE ARE THE HARTMANS starring Richard Chamberlain.

As a cinematographer, she captured the ‘water on fire’ shot in the Oscar-Nominated documentary GASLAND, which galvanized activists and led to the banning of Fracking in NY State.

She is the director and lead singer of The Abracadabra Trip, a mobile concert that plays on the roof of a bus at iconic locations around NYC and beyond. In 2022 the team toured to Ukraine on a mission of peace and healing through music. A feature documentary about the trip is currently in post production.

 

Other films Laura has directed, produced, shot and edited include THE WATCHER a behind the scenes short about Adrien Brody, Jennifer Beals and the cast of Manhattan Night and multiple PSAs for the American Heart Association that won a Marcom PR Award.  She has produced award winning content for MTV, Bravo, NYU, Wiley Publishing. 350.org and the Lower East Side Girl's Club. For 5 years, Laura was the head filmmaker at The Feedfeed producing branded content for Amex, Simply Organic Spices, Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute and more.
